The South Rupununi Conservation Society
The SRCS is Guyana's most active grassroots conservation society. For 25
years we have used community-led research and conservation as a model to sustain vulnerable ecosystems, protect threatened species and preserve traditional knowledge.
The SRCS is the winner of the 2024 Parker Gentry Award, the 2025 Whitley Fund for Nature and the 2026 St Andrew's Prize for the Environment.
The SRCS is active in more than 20 villages, employs over 100 people in part-time conservation, research and teaching, works directly with 7 threatened species, more than half a million hactares of land and is now developing an Environmental Education Curriculum for all Guyana's schools.

Wichabai Ranch is the home of the SRCS. Your hosts, guides, drivers and cooks are SRCS rangers, Project Coordinators or Executive Committee members. Find out more about our projects below, in our blog and on the SRCS website and social media pages.
Many activities at Wichabai employ SRCS rangers or invite guests to take part in SRCS conservation and research activities. Find out more on our adventures page.
