Feed and Swim with Capybaras
Just minutes from your cabin, step into the lake a real experience of a lifetime: swim with a herd of tame capybaras. Beautiful examples of the largest species of rodent in the world, Hydra, Sara, Pegasus and family roam free-range throughout the ranch. You'll find them grazing around the compound, following you home after lunch, and if they feel like it, joining you for a swim. The capybaras are part of our rewilding programme. As herd animals, they love to be around people. Prepare to be charmed!

Guided Stargazing
If you've ever been to a planetarium, you know the awe of lying under a ceiling of stars. Now, experience this in real life; top up your rum punch and stretch out on a hilltop for a tour of the night sky. Learn why, with the celestial equator directly overhead, all 88 constellations are visible. The Milky Way is glorious all year-round, but in autumn we follow the tail of Scorpius straight towards the richest part of the sky: the galactic centre. Binary stars, star clusters, nebulae and even distant galaxies are made visible with binoculars. For the best stars, time your visit for anytime during the 2 weeks after full moon.

Ranching Experiences
Where the cattle run free on open grasslands, experience the life of an Indigenous South American Vaquero. Enter a world that hasn't changed since cattle and horses first came to the Rupununi savannah. These activities are included in your nightly rate, and can be adapted for families, experienced riders and novices.

Each evening, the cattle are rounded up on horseback and brought into the corral or paddock to keep them safe from jaguars. Join the vaqueros in this essential ranch activity, for confident riders.

Indigenous Cultures
The South Rupununi has been home to Indigenous people for many thousands of years. Sacred mountains boast ancient petroglyphs, remains of pottery and groundstones. Today, Wapichan and Macushi people keep a close connection to their past in many daily tasks, architecture and craft. These special, immersive experiences are offered by communities who wish to share and promote their traditions.

Katoonarib Cultural Experience
This is a wonderful experience for anyone curious about Indigenous life and culture. Join a local Wapishana family in their farm, dig and bring home cassava and provisions, make your own cassava bread and tapioca. Then have a traditional lunch with the family, taste the local beverages, learn how to spin cotton and try shooting a bow and arrow.

Waterfalls and Lunch
A refreshing place to have lunch on your way into or out of Lethem.
Kumu is just half an hour’s drive from Lethem. There is no better place to spend a couple of hours after a tiring flight or drive. Swim in the cool water flowing from the Kanuku Mountains, eat a delicious local style buffet lunch and enjoy the forest scenery.
